David grew up outside Buffalo, NY the son of Rev. Gerald and Judy Grimm. He graduated from Hanover Area High School in Wilkes-Barre, PA and attended Concordia College, Bronxville, NY for two years. He graduated with a BA in psychology and sociology from Concordia College, Ann Arbor, MI. He continued his education at Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO where he graduated with a Master of Divinity. While at seminary he married his wife Shawna and had their first child Matthew. David served congregations in Bancroft, Nebraska and Davenport, IA where their family grew to include Timothy, Sarah, and Jonah.
In 2001, David and Shawna were moved by the tremendous loss of life on 9/11. Desiring to reach out in more agressive ways, they left their home in Iowa to pursue a ministry to travellers. The result of their searching led them to open En Gedi Campground River Resort in Leonidas, MI. For 15 years David served the dual parish of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Colon and Centreville, while helping to manage the campground and find ways to connect people with Jesus. In 2020, prompted by a series of unusual circumstances, David left the congregation of St. Paul's Centreville with a small band of eager Christians and started the new congregation of Creator's Praise Ministries.
David continues to pastor the Lutheran Church in Colon and aspires to be a faithful shepherd to both flocks now under his care.
